What have we forgotten? Finding our way back.

What have we forgotten? Finding our way back.

We recently came across an article called “Foraging: Finding Food in the Wild”, where we discovered the growing movement of people returning to nature, learning how to identify wild ingredients, understand the seasons and reconnect with the landscapes around them.

It reminded us of something simple: for generations, nomad communities have learned from the land and from each other.

Around the same time, we keep coming back to another important tradition close to us in Alicante: the Hogueras de San Juan.

Rediscovering what has always connected us

Every year in Alicante, in June, something very interesting happens.

During the Hogueras de San Juan, streets fill with music, traditional dresses, food and conversations. People come together, not because they have to, but because sharing moments has always been part of who we are. And on the night of June 23, during San Juan, everyone gathers around fire, jumps over it, swims in the sea and makes wishes.

For centuries, humans have gathered around fires, tables and stories.

That’s when it clicked.

What if we combined these two ideas?

What if we created an event that links people to nature as much as possible? What if we built a summit where foraging, open skies, shared meals, bonfires and wine tasting are not side activities, but part of the core experience?

What would happen if some people from different countries, backgrounds and generations come together in one small village?

Those questions became the beginning of what could be a new rural experience.

A slower way to connect. A deeper way to travel.

Over four days, the experience blends structure with spontaneity. 50 remote workers, entrepreneurs and digital nomads will join a local community in northern Spain to exchange skills, stories and perspectives.

The idea is simple: everyone has something to share.

  • A skill
  • A tradition
  • A story
  • An experience
  • A different way of seeing the world

The village and the surroundings become more than a destination.

It becomes the venue, where global knowledge and local wisdom meet.

Meals, activities and local transport are included so people can focus on being part of the experience: contributing, listening, sharing and discovering.
